Comfort for the hands, with us in abundance

Buy quality gloves from Marinepool in our online shop

Whether it's a multi-day sailing trip with sunshine and summer temperatures, the regatta with cold and wet conditions, with wet and slippery fall or just for docking with old and rough ropes in the harbor - our hands are exposed to different strains. In order to avoid burn-in of the sheet or to protect the hands from injury while sailing or while working on board, there are a variety of gloves, made of different materials, with short fingers and gloves with long fingers. In order to find the right fit or the right length of gloves for sailing, it requires no science, you just have to pay attention to a few subtleties when buying sailing gloves.

Short finger gloves vs. Long Finger Gloves

For every use there are the right gloves, but which gloves do I use for what? Basically, the decision depends on your personal well-being, but of course the weather, the water, the type of boat and the temperatures are very important. Short finger gloves are mainly used for summer temperatures and in warm waters. Accordingly, sailor gloves with long fingers are more likely to be used in cold weather and hectic boat operation. Even with gloves there are always exceptions and so there are models of which two of five fingers are cut off. Where is the advantage now, sooner or later? Long-fingered models protect the fingers all around and are also highly water-repellent, which provides for a better clima balance in cold temperatures and rough boat tours. Also, the long version with reinforced fingertips made of neoprene is usually used for dinghy or regatta sailing, because here is clearly the protection of the fingers in the foreground. So, such sturdier models usually have thicker padding for a high wearing comfort. Opposite are models with short fingers made of soft and light nylon for optimal sense of touch and a high degree of fine motor skills. The high-quality fabric material is quick-drying and does not absorb so much water. Due to the free fingertips there is an improved handle for small parts, for example, to be able to open small shackles. Our gloves, which have been developed by professional athletes, are equipped with flexible and elastic spandex and a Velcro fastening on the back of the hand, thus ensuring optimum adaptation to the hand.
