Few garments are as closely associated with classic crew and yacht wear as the men's polo shirt. The main reason is its combination of sporty comfort and a stylish appearance. The characteristic collar and button placket give it a more classic look than a T-shirt, without restricting freedom of movement like a shirt.

This makes polo shirts particularly versatile: They are worn by sailors and crews on board, are an essential part of the classic yacht club look and remain suitable for wearing after sailing. Consistent colours and customisation options also make them a popular choice for crew and team clothing. Many of our polo shirts are therefore designed for branding and coordinated team appearances.

Creating a maritime look doesn't require much. A men's polo shirt in navy or white, for example, can be paired with chinos, Bermuda shorts or functional trousers. Sneakers or boat shoes complete the look.

Classic men's tops are often made from cotton or a cotton blend. The fabric feels soft against the skin and is particularly suitable for leisure, travel, yacht club activities and a classic maritime look.

Many of our cotton polo shirts feature a piqué structure, which creates the characteristic lightly textured surface of a classic polo shirt. The addition of elastane can provide greater freedom of movement.

Piqué refers to a knitted fabric structure with a characteristic slightly raised surface. It gives classic polo shirts their distinctive appearance and provides a breathable, textured feel.

A polo shirt should fit comfortably around the upper body without feeling restrictive. The fabric should not feel tight, particularly around the shoulders and chest.
